Irwin File
A few years back, Cathy Irwin discovered she
had these gems. Steve Driesler kindly scanned me some hi-res tiffs. As for the promised funny story, wait for it.

Okay, you've waited long enough. I was at a loss as to who might have taken
these shots of Charles. I recently even
asked him if he remembered; alas not. I
began noticing that even though tonally different,
this third shot of me seemed contemporary to the three of Charles. Encyclopedia Maxson noticed the same rumpled
brown paper bag of something on the table as a commonality--same moment in
time! And then I remembered. I'd never forgotten the moment, just the
specifics.
Rick Rizzo was in town from Chicago, and the
three of us were hanging out in the living room at 1069. He left for a few minutes. I think he went across the street to the
liquor store to get us some beer. Or
maybe he went next door and ate some Arby's.
He had a really nice SLR camera, which he left on the table, entrusted
to us. He was barely out the door before
I suddenly had the funniest idea ever. I
lunged for the camera, hopped up, figured it out and started shouting,
"Pose! pose! this is gonna be so
funny!" By the third frame I was
clearly just being annoying, so put the camera back on the table where it was,
and sat down myself. Charles immediately
grabbed the camera and extracted his revenge.
My next total guess is that later Rick got
the film developed and printed and maybe Cathy was up in Chicago on some early Freakwater business and he gave her the jokes to hand back
over to the original jokesters next time she returned to town.
