The pencil dick is a pose.  Charles wasn't interested in tobacco.  His other hand is on Lucille.  She came to the house as a kitten, and stayed.  She was a crazy tortoiseshell with extra toes.  She birthed famous Headcheese.  She weaned that litter by jumping out an open window and never turning back.

Don't forget the glimpse of also famous boombox!  I had enough money I was escorted to the Sears in St. Matthews where they had a Sears brand boombox advertised on sale.  It was the SR2100 series.  2194 to be precise.  Which came with a stereo pair of stupidly responsive condenser microphones built in.  It's the machine that recorded the rarity of "Order" which graces the B-side of the album.

I think the rumpled brown paper bag contained Rick's change of clothes and choice of toiletries.  You know, the punk rock suitcase.
