WHAT IT SOUNDED LIKE. Unfortunately, what little was released by the above bands is on long out-of-print vinyl, coming out in pressings of 500 copies or less. The Endtables EP surfaces on Ebay now and again, and is an internationally sought collectable--a recent copy sold for over $1000. Fortunately, Louisville's own Noise Pollution label has released a fat compilation CD of the above bands, masterfully digitally mastered, entitled "Bold Beginnings; an incomplete collection of Louisville Punk 1978-1983" . . . WHERE IT ALL BEGAN. Actually, the first steadily punk bar was the Iroquois Hideaway/South 40 for a period in 1979. But the Windmill was the first bar to formally embrace the new sound, staging New Wave Tuesdays before totally going punk . . . for a couple months, anyway. Here's a great photo of the old place, shot by Kate Dunn, inscribed on the back 6/13/80.
