This is a reconstruction of the Village Voice cover article that gave the early Louisville scene its 2 minutes of fame. Written by Tom Carson, with photos by James Hamilton. Note the date of publication: December 3-9, 1980. In a classic case of Louisville Luck, the issue hit the stands the week John Lennon was gunned down, so the music world was a bit preoccupied. Though a little overly intellectualized as the piece explores its thesis, it is a fairly accurate snapshot of the time/place. There are some factual errors, from small (that's Tari Barr, not Terry) to large (the assertion of "increasing hostilities" between the Dickbrains and Maligs left us all scratching out heads.)
