The Babylon Dance Band pulls an all-nighter at Tewligan's Tavern.

February 1981

photos by Ken Flaherty

At first glance these series may look culled from several shows. Sometimes Tim is wearing a red shirt, sometimes a striped shirt. Tara is seen in a cross-hatched shirt with sleeves rolled above the elbows and a vertically striped shirt with sleeves rolled up the forearms. Hat and glasses come and go from Tara's head. But Chip remains steady in a red shirt and bandaged hand. Hats & glasses fly off or prove irksome. Playing old-school style, the band would've been playing 3-4 full sets, a sweat-event even in February . . . changing into dry shirts between sets would've involved walking a few doors down to 1069 or driving the two blocks to their apartment.

[The photo processor made these reprints rather dark so the background dissolves, which would be lamentable if the background was anything other than the ugly wall of cheap brown carpet.]
