A selection of Charley Westerman's shots of a Babylon Dance Band/Circle X show at the Crimson Lounge, a short-lived venue on Frankfort Avenue. Pretty, pretty lights! This was a two-night deal; Tom Carson read from his punk novel Twisted Kicks the first night. I'm not sure which night these are from. One of the nights--or maybe it was another double bill at the same place--Circle X played their entire set behind a sheet (the banner in back is my assumption) . . . two weeks after P.I.L. more famously pulled the same stunt, which naturally led to a bunch of guffawing. Me, I'm thinking, usually it takes 10-15 years for "the new" to filter down to our sleepy river city--kudos to Circle X for cutting the lag time to two weeks! Heh heh. Charley was a good friend of Chip's--the only shots in the lot of Circle X are the ones below of Tony Pinotti on the microphone. If these images seem a little lo-fi, it's because the orginals were slides, which are a little tricky to scan at the DIY Headquarters of Louisville Punk--we're just glad to have the capability, however primitive, to scan film.
